violin (also known as a fiddle) is a chordophone (string instrument) made out of wood. Most violins have a hollow wood body, which makes them easy to play with. Because of its small size, it has the highest pitch of all the instruments in the family. It's a beautiful instrument.
Normally tuned in perfect fifths, the violin has four strings and is played by stroking a bow over the strings with the notes G3, D4, A4, and E5. In certain instances, it can also be played by plucking the strings with the fingers (pizzicato) or striking the strings with the wooden side of the bow.
